I don’t know this young lady. I have no connection to her at all, yet I’m in a bathroom stall at my job weeping! In full on tears people! I saw a post on Instagram about what happened to her. I watched a video of this young lady being beaten and the person recording the video had the nerve to say “Quella, you not gon fight back?” Like TF!! I don’t usually speak on things like this or the many hashtags that are created daily but this! This did something to me!
People, evil is very real and ever present! How else can you explain what happened to this young lady! For the life of me, I can never understand how someone could or would record others fighting instead of doing something? Don’t get me wrong, I am all about #mindyourbusinessministry in certain situations but not this! These are so called friends! How can you watch your friend be beaten to death?? I was not there, and I don’t know exactly what went down, so it’s not my place to make judgments but Lord have mercy!
I’m in tears because I’m upset with the world! I’m sad because some people are just heartless. I’m heartbroken because I’m a mother of a teenage girl who is growing up in a society where Tik Tok fights, and social media toxicity is normal. I’m outraged because this is not the first and probably won’t be the last incident like this! Most of all, I feel helpless and a little hopeless! And if I could be real honest with you all, this is the main reason why I shy away from writing about these things.
Sometimes I feel like what’s the point? What is one more blog post, hashtag or share going to do? Who am I to speak on the circumstances of this young lady’s death when I was not a part of her life? What I had to realize is that, even though my post will not bring this girl back and it probably won’t have any effect on the investigation etc., God gave me a voice for a reason! I don’t know exactly why I felt led to write this but I’m being obedient.
Like I said earlier, evil is real and very present, so we need to pray! If at the very least, I can bring awareness of the situation to those in my circle and to whomever will read this, so that they can just pray for the families involved, not just Shanquella’s, but her friend’s as well, that would be enough!
James 5:16 says, “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed (that part). The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with.” (MSG). So let’s pray people!
